High Walls and Low Risk: Get to Know High Wall Split Type Air Conditioners

High Walls and Low Risk: Get to Know High Wall Split Type Air Conditioners

High wall air conditioners (also known as split type units) are the mere opposites of window type air conditioners. For the most part, both of them diligently fulfill their main function, and that is to cool down a given space, may it be a room or a living room as a whole. Of course, it is up to the preference of potential buyers, on whether or not they’d avail the window type or the high wall variation. However, there are still a surprisingly huge amount of people who do not know the main advantages of choosing high wall air conditioners over window types. The thing about these units is that their main appearances are mostly the only thing that differentiate them from one another, with not many people realizing that these appearances utilize more on their functions and usage rather than just their practical designs in a way.

With that in mind, we’ve come up with a short list of these differences and high wall advantages over the other variation. Take note that these are just some of the most common examples, and as air conditioners undergo a particular advancement per new model, so would their features and functionalities, so be on the lookout for more updates in the near future.

First of all, what are high wall air conditioners?

Also known as a wall mounted or split type unit, high wall air conditioners are basically how they are described, a unit which is placed way up on your wall space, with a few inches to spare before reaching your ceiling. It is made up of two parts, basically, one is placed indoors (the one you hang on your wall) and one is placed outdoors (the big rectangular box outside your window, usually on the ground. Split type air conditioning systems now comes with a remote control, so you wouldn’t need to stand on a high chair in order to adjust the cooling settings.

With that aside, what are its advantages over other types of air conditioners?

There are quite a few advantages, as a matter of fact. They range from the aesthetics, the aspect of convenience, and technicalities, but overall, they are all for the good and welfare of the ones utilizing them. Here are just some of the best ones:

Eliminates the need to block your window space or view.

This is one of the main disadvantages of choosing a window type over a high wall. Window types would need a perfectly drilled rectangular hole on your wall in order for it to be properly installed. If you happen to have a house with no such hole, you may need to drill it yourself or hire a handyman to do all the dirty work for you. Nonetheless, it’s still very time consuming and costly. Now, you may go for the more practical option, sacrificing one of your windows in order to install the A/C. This seems like a good solution, but doing so will take away your outside view, so you won’t be able to see the sceneries outside. Another disadvantage of this is that you wouldn’t be able to check up on visitors, if ever someone were to knock on your door on weekends. High wall A/Cs would provide a workaround this concern, as they are usually installed way up your wall, and they wouldn’t obstruct any view from your windows, neither would they require a huge rectangular hole on your wall.

It also saves floor space.

The good thing about high wall split types is that they also let you utilize your floor space wisely. Since they are installed high up on your wall, they do not consume any square meter of your floors, hence, you may still place furniture and other forms of appliances. This isn’t possible with window type units. Sure, they may be installed a few feet from the ground, but even that may obstruct other towering furniture like cabinets and cupboards. At least, with high wall units, you’ll be able to express the creative side of you and continue to experiment with your floor space without any worry. Oh, and did we mention that an air conditioner which is placed way up your walls would also be able to reach even the furthest part of your room, as there would be nothing blocking their way.

It is less noisy than other A/C units.

High wall split type air conditioners have little to no sound when turned on. Window types tend to hum all throughout their operation cycle, regardless of cooling level. In a way, we can conclude that high wall units are more office and study room friendly than window types, since they allow for a silent ambience, thus, motivating the need to concentrate during work or study hours. If you’re installing a high wall in your bedroom, then you’d at least get a good night’s sleep, with no hum or buzz waking you up in the middle of the night.

High wall split types are more practical.

Window types require you to drill out a huge rectangular shape on your wall, in order to prepare a spot for your unit. High wall split types only require a small circular hole for the connecting tubes to fit in. This tube is what connects the outdoors part of the A/C with the indoors part. Aside from cooling your surrounding air, the indoor part of your

unit also absorbs hot air from the room itself, thus, only cool air remains. The hot air is then sent to the outdoor part of your unit through the tube which runs through the small circular hole on your wall. It is a lot practical in perspective.
