Tipid Tibay: Condura’s Drive for a Filipino-Made Aircon

Most Filipinos may not be aware of it, but the Condura brand has already been around for more than three decades. People often make the repetitive mistake of thinking that Condura is an international brand, but the truth is they couldn’t be more wrong. Understandably, this is due to the fact that Condura itself prioritizes quality, durability, and convenience, traits which can be found in foreign brands, so it is no surprise that people would think that such brand may have originated from another country, even though it didn’t. With this in mind, we may conclude that every lineup of product that comes out of the Condura brand is Proudly Pinoy, manufactured and made in the Philippines.

If you’re one of those who are curious about the origin of this successful brand, then sit back, relax, and enjoy this little trip down memory lane. We will take you back 30 years in the past and guide you until the present day, where such Pinoy brand made a name for itself.

What is Condura and where did it all begin?

Concepcion Durables, Inc. is a subsidiary of Concepcion Industries, Inc. It is one of the largest appliance manufacturers in the Philippines, which specializes in the manufacturing of air conditioners, refrigerators, and freezers for the domestic market. It has been running for more than 30 years now. On a side note, the name Condura is a compressed version of Concepcion Durables.

The venture was started by Jose Concepcion Sr. back in 1962, first establishing Concepcion Industries Inc. (“CII”), as a result of obtaining the exclusive license to distribute an international air conditioning brand in the Philippines. Over the last 50 years, CII has grown its business to be the largest most established and experienced provider of air conditioners in the Philippines. It has since then successfully introduced its own brand Condura for air conditioning units focusing on the Filipino’s needs. The point where the venture branched out to introduce Condura became the catalyst of change for many Filipinos, as the Condura brand itself is focused on promoting locally-made high quality appliances, in turn, recognizing the unbeatable skills of Filipinos when it comes to industrial work and conceptualization.

Condura is for the Filipino, by the Filipino.

Condura has always supported Filipino pride ever since their conception many years ago. Their operation had lasted more than 50 years and counting, and they’ve been able to develop the largest nationwide sales and distribution (of affordable air conditioning units for Pinoy customers) and aftermarket service (technicians and aftersales support) spanning across the numerous islands of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. During mall weekends, you may have even caught a glimpse of Condura brand in the appliances section, this is due to the fact that their products are available in more than 90% of all the appliance outlets in the Philippines. For Pinoy’s who are still having second thoughts about their A/Cs, it’s good to know that they are also supported by over 170 accredited installer companies; over 130 accredited service centers; over 2,000 technicians; rapid sales facilitation and service turnaround from over 1,000 merchandisers deployed at the point of sale; and 8 dedicated parts stores. This means that from the very point of buying the air conditioning unit, up to the point where you, as the customer have a question or inquiry about the product, they’ll be more than happy to help you out. Their logistics network is also supported by strategically located regional warehouses, supported by over 100 delivery trucks and corresponding delivery personnel, ensuring that every manufactured A/C unit arrives on time towards their outlets and customers, such as you.

Judging by these information, we may conclude that every Condura product is manufactured with a high quality, it is due to the fact that they know that high-quality products can only be created with proper care and attention to detail. Every nut, every screw, every bolt, all are put together with such a strict standard, all are built tightly with little to no margin of error. Such tasks are tiring, but not to a Filipino. A Pinoy would simply look at this task, roll up their sleeves then proceed to hammer or screw every panel or partition. Give or take a few hours and you’ve already got yourself a brand new A/C unit.

A skill that resonates around the globe.

We’ve mentioned about the hard work of Pinoys, but that doesn’t mean that a Filipino’s skills and talents are only limited within the country. When it comes to showing off our abilities, Pinoy’s are also well known abroad. Within the period of April 2018 until September 2018, the estimated number of OFWs abroad was 2.3 million. Take note that this data was taken last year, hence, it is possible that as of the time of this writing, the numbers may have increased. Truly, employers from around the globe recognizes talent and irreplaceable skill when they see one, which is why OFWs are praised and respected, even by their peers. Is it any wonder that the Filipino-made Condura air conditioners are the real testament of a Pinoy’s relentless focus and hard work? The same irreplaceable skill that OFWs showcases abroad may be found within the very confines of Condura’s manufacturing plants, and the high-quality units are a solid indicator of that.

Reliable quality and reliable savings.

Many brands in the market would promise you all of the so-called advantages when buying their products, but Condura is way beyond that. Condura’s Tibay at Tipid (Durability and Savings) motto continues to prove itself time and time again. Condura’s inspiration, the Filipino people, are more than happy to experience these advantages first-hand, and their countless testimonies are what motivates Condura to enhance their lineup of air conditioners even further. Indeed, it is a cycle of real inspiration, motivating real Filipinnovation. Thus, Filipinos will continue to be Condura’s inspiration in creating real solutions and innovations.
